Strength Training
Golf has come a long way to disperse the
myth golfers don’t workout and today the sport has developed in a
credible arena of competition at the highest level. Exercise has seldom
been a component in the past, but today's golfer must include it to
succeed.
Why add a fitness routine:
1. Leaner stronger body
2. Increased power, hit longer drives
3. Lower handicaps
4. Decreased likelihood of injury
5. Create functional range of motion
6. Improve accuracy, distance, consistency
7. Develops a strong foundation for take away, downswing and follow
through.
8. Better arsenal for short game
9. Lower body strength allows for proper weight shift balance
10. Better focus and positive mental game
Resistance training is adding stress to
your bones and muscles above and beyond your everyday activities. If you
have a job that keeps you moving all day, your body adapts to those
stresses. It does not count as a workout because your body gets used to
it.
Strength training does not require any
tools other than your own body. I can list 10 exercises that require no
weights at all. Push ups, crunches, lunges put in 3 sets of 12 for each
of these exercise you have your own little personal workout. It is just
that simple. If you are like most people variety is what you crave.
Adding tubes, dumbbells, machines, and unstable surfaces are just the
ticket. Every training session is different than the one before.
You'd be surprised how easy it is to
make time for exercise when you have a structured program to follow.
Become a member today and you’ll see numerous workouts to choose from.
You have nothing to lose but body fat and strokes off your score.
